telnet - Cannot access remote application over my vpn I have established a VPN connection (using openvpn) between my local machine and the remote server, but cannot telnet from my local machine to port 7462. The IP address of my vpn server is 10.8.0.1. I am also running postfix on my remote server and am able to telnet to port 25 without any issues. I'm confused as to why the ping isn't working on the computer that successfully connects to the mapped drive over the VPN. Ping uses a different protocol (ICMP) than what you want to connect with and that may be blocked. An alternative to using ping would be to use telnet.exe with the port that you want to use on the other side.

The ping is not successful. In fact, you cannot access the ASA on that interface using Telnet, SSH, etc. when connected through a VPN tunnel. To show that normal LAN users behind the ASA can ping that interface, I will test from the router that I have on the LAN.
